DENVER—University of Hawai`i pitcher Kaia Parnaby was named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for April 11-17 for her performance at Louisiana Tech. It was her second honor of the season and third of her career.

 

Parnaby, a sophomore from Bilgola Plateau, NSW, Australia, went 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in one appearance last week. In a 4-0 complete-game win over Louisiana Tech, she scattered four hits and tied her career high with 12 strikeouts, including the first seven outs. It was her fourth shutout and 13th complete game of the season.

 

Overall, Parnaby is 11-3 with a 0.99 ERA with just 22 walks while striking out 115. In conference action, Parnaby is 3-1 with a 0.51 ERA and two shut outs in five appearances.

 

This week, Hawai'i begins its final homestand of the year with a crucial three-game series against third place Boise State (26-15, 9-3 WAC). The two teams open the series on Friday, April 22 at 6:00 pm with a doubleheader on April 23 starting at 4:00 pm.
