Warriors Slide by WAC Opponent Nevada

FRESNO, Calif. -- The University of Hawai'i mens tennis team defeated fellow WAC opponent Nevada on Saturday afternoon. Since only six of seven WAC teams make the WAC Tournament, this victory was a big step for UH in securing a berth and going for its fourth straight tournament title.

The Warriors (6-11, 2-3 WAC) began the day by capturing the doubles point.  Dennis Lajola and Jonathan Brooklyn continued on five-match win streak defeating Kristian Kuharszky and Victor Ouvrard 8-4. Jeremy Tweedt and Dmytro Kovalyov were also victorious, securing the doubles point by defeating Nathan Reix and Kyle Walker 8-4 at the No. 3 court.

UH claimed five of the six singles courts with Lajola clenching the victory at the No. 1 court after defeating Wessim Derbel 6-1, 6-4. Lajola has won his last four singles matches in a row and has a dual match record of 9-6 on the season. Jared Spiker and Daniel Llarenas both had commanding victories over their opponents defeating them 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1 respectively.

Hawai'i will take on No. 52 Boise State Sunday, April 17 at 10:00 am PT (7:00 am HT) in its regular-season finale. The match will take place at the Wathen Tennis Center in Fresno, California.
