HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team picked up its first Western Athletic Conference win of the season, and in the process snapped a three-match losing streak, with a 4-2 victory over Idaho, Friday at the UH Tennis Complex.
Pinterova got things started on the No. 2 court with a 6-0, 3-0 (ret.) win after her opponent Lauren Simpson retired due to injury. Moments later, Poljakova snapped a personal four-match losing streak with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Victoria Lozano at No. 1 and Zorec ended a five-match skid with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Silvia Irimescu at No. 3.
After the Vandals picked up a win at the No. 6 position, UH's Suworowa defeated Barbara Mociocha, 6-3, 6-0 on the No. 4 court. For Suworowa, it was just her fourth singles match at UH and she improved her record to 3-1.
The Rainbow Wahine return to the court Sunday in another WAC match against Louisiana Tech. Match time is 2:00 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
