HONOLULU – The University of Hawai`i women's tennis team defeated Gonzaga 5-2 on Wednesday afternoon at the UH Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Wahine improved their record to 5-7 with the win.

Due to unstable weather conditions, the Rainbow Wahine began with singles play. UH breezed through the competition, winning on five of the six courts. Magdalena Ploch and Natasha Zorec captured their second straight singles victory in a row. Alyssa Nafarrete is on a two match win streak as well and after defeating Clare Dodge 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 4 court, she improved her dual match record to 7-5 this season. Aglae Van den Bergh defeated Danielle Farmer 7-5, 6-0 at the No. 5 court to secure the win for the Rainbow Wahine. 

Ploch and Nafarrete claimed the only doubles victory at the No. 1 court defeating Kristina Zauere and Clare Dodge 8-2. The pair are now 3-2 this season.

 

Up next, the Rainbow Wahine will head to California for a three match road swing beginning with Princeton on March, 15, California on March, 17 and Nevada on March, 19.
