DENVER – University of Hawai'i second baseman Kolten Wong was named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week for March 7-13.
Wong helped the Rainbows to a 2-2 record last week with a pair of wins over Portland. Wong batted .556 (10 for 18) and tallied six RBI, two doubles, and two home runs. In the series finale against Portland, Wong belted two home runs, including a walk-off shot in the bottom of the 10th inning to lead UH to a 6-5 victory.
Wong is batting .386 for the season and his two homeruns are a team high. He also leads UH in hits (25) and shares team-high honors in runs scored (9). It was Wong's first WAC weekly honor after being named to four preseason all-america teams.
