LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team fell short against No. 8 UCLA on Friday afternoon at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. UH dropped to 2-8 this season with the loss.
The nationally ranked Bruins (10-2) swept the Rainbow Warriors on all three courts, clinching the doubles point.
Dennis Lajola and
Jonathan Brooklyn fought hard but were outlasted by Alex Brigham and Adrien Puget at the No. 2 court, 8-4.
UCLA dominated in singles action as well, winning on five of the six courts to secure the victory. The Warriors lone win came at the No. 2 court where
Leo Rosenberg took down No. 99 Clay Thompson, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. Rosenberg has improved his dual match record to 5-5 with the win.
UH had a shot at one other court, but lost a grueling three-set match at the No. 3 position.
Jeremy Tweedt fell to Adrien Puget, 7-5, 4-6, (10-6) in a super tie-breaker.
Up next for the Rainbow Warriors is a pair of home matches beginning Tuesday, March 22 against Air Force followed by a match against Cal Poly on Saturday, March 26. First serve against Air Force will be at 10:00 am and at 1:00pm against Cal Poly at the UH Tennis Complex.
