FULLERTON, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team kicked off a four-match road swing through California with a 7-0 win against Cal State Fullerton Saturday afternoon at the Titan Courts. The Rainbow Wahine improved to 3-2 on the year in its first road dual match of the season.
The Rainbow Wahine won two of three doubles matches to take the first point then swept all six singles courts to complete the shutout. UH did it emphatically with 8-1 and 8-0 wins in doubles and straight set wins in all six singles matches.
Katarina Poljakova, the reigning WAC Player of the Week, led the way, teaming with
Alyssa Nafarrete for an 8-1 doubles victory, before improving her singles record to a perfect 5-0 record on the year with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Morgan McIntosh at the No. 2 position.
Next up for the Rainbow Wahine is a match at UC Irvine on Sunday, Feb. 6. First serve is at 11:00 a.m. PT (9:00 a.m. HT).
