SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team continued it's California road swing with a 7-0 loss to No. 42 San Diego Thursday afternoon at the Hogan Tennis Center. The No. 43 Rainbow Warriors dropped to 1-4 on the year.
The Toreros (7-2), who boast a ranked doubles team and two ranked singles players, came out strong against the Rainbow Warriors. San Diego swept the three doubles courts and claimed all six singles match-ups.
Five of the six singles matches were decided in straight sets however UH was engaged in two epic battles. No. 34 Dean Jackson sneaked past.
Dennis Lajola 7-6(8), 7-5 at the No. 1 court, while
Jonathan Brooklyn fell victim to a rally by No. 85 Clark Spinosa 5-7, 7-5, 10-4 at the No. 4 court.
The Rainbow Warriors will conclude its road trip on Sunday, Feb. 27. First serve is at 12:00 p.m. PT (10:00 a.m. HT).
