HONOLULU – The University of Hawai`i women's tennis team will play have its first home stint in nearly a month with a pair of matches this week against Cal State Northridge on Wednesday, Feb. 23 and No. 60 San Diego State on Saturday, Feb. 26. Both matches will be at the UH Tennis Complex and admission is free.
The Matadors (3-4) will bring the nationally ranked duo of No. 78 Brooke Doane and Jennifer Sher who are 4-0 on the season. The competition gets tougher as No. 60 San Diego State (3-4) boasts two nationally ranked doubles team – No. 46 Julia Wais and Alicia Aguilar and No. 53 Sierra and Roxanne Ellison.
UH now has a nationally ranked player to bring to the table as well.
Katarina Poljakova is now ranked No. 94 in singles action. She is 11-4 overall so far this season, inclduing and impressive 7-1 in dual matches. Poljakova is undefeated against nationally ranked players, taking down then No. 43 Mary Clayton from then No. 7 Duke.
Next up for the Rainbow Wahine will be another pair of home matches, beginning with Loyola Marymount on March 2.
