NAMPA, Idaho – University of Hawai'i multi-event athletes
Samantha Balentine and
Kaleigh Morrison competed in the pentathlon at the Boise State Team Challenge Friday at Jackson Track.
Both athletes competed in only four of the five events on purpose in order to save themselves for a full-day of competition on Saturday. After the first four events, Balentine was third and Morrison was sixth among 17 athletes.
The two athletes also competed in the pentathlon at the UW Invitational two weeks ago in Seattle, Wash. Through four events, Balentine was 49 points better than that performance while Morrison was 134 points ahead. Morrison set personal bests in the 60-meter hurdles, shot put and long jump.
Balentine tied for the day's second best high jump at 5-6.5 (1.69m) and fourth-best shot put at 33-6.75 (10.23m) while Morrison was third in the long jump (17-4/5.28m), sixth in the high jump (5-4.24/1.63m) and seventh in the shot put (30-10.25/9.40m).
The meet concludes on Saturday with 18 UH athletes in action.
