LONG BEACH, Calif. – The University of Hawai`i women's tennis team concluded its four match road trip with a tough 6-1 loss against No. 43 Long Beach State on Thursday at the Rhodes Tennis Center. The Rainbow Wahine dropped to 3-5 on the year with their third straight road defeat.
The 49ers (2-1) clinched the doubles point by taking two of the three courts.
Barbara Pinterova and
Katarina Poljakova nabbed an 8-3 victory over Armstrong and Dallara for UH's lone doubles win.
UH fought hard but was unable to overcome the 49ers on five of the six singles courts.
Alyssa Nafarrete claimed the Rainbow Wahine's sole point in the No. 5 position with a (6-4, 6-4) win against Sarah Cantlay. Poljakova suffered her first singles loss of the season after a dominating seven match win streak.
The Rainbow Wahine will return to Honolulu to play a home match against Cal State Northridge on Wednesday, February 23. First serve is at 3:00pm at the UH Tennis Complex.
