HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior basketball team, led by second-year head coach
Gib Arnold, officially opens the 2011-12 regular season when it hosts Cal State Northridge in a nationally televised affair, Monday Nov. 14 at 11:00 p.m.
The game—with a late-night tip—is part of the ESPN's College Hoops Tip-off Marathon, which features 24 straight hours of games. This will be the fourth straight season UH has participated in the event, having gone 2-1 the last three years.
UH tuned up for Monday's game with a hard-fought 62-56 exhibition win over Hawai`i Pacific on Friday. Cal State Northridge, meanwhile, opened its regular season at USC on Friday, falling to the Trojans, 66-59.
The Rainbow Warriors return six players from last year's squad that went 19-13 and earned the program's first-season postseason bid in seven years with an appearance in the College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon. Among the returnees are preseason all-WAC selections
Zane Johnson (15.8 ppg, 98 3-pointers) and
Vander Joaquim (9.5 ppg, 8.2 rpg).
