Game Notes
The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team looks to keep up its winning ways when it heads to the road for a pair of games this weekend, beginning with a Western Athletic Conference match-up against Idaho (4-8-2, 0-2 WAC) on Friday, Oct. 7 at 4:00 p.m. PT (1:00 p.m. HT).
UH will also play a non-conference match at Seattle (8-5) on Sunday, Oct. 9 (1:00 p.m. PT, 10:00 a.m. HT), in the first-ever meeting between the teams.
The Rainbow Wahine (3-8) have won two straight matches for their first back-to-back victories since 2009. More importantly the team has started WAC play at 2-0 for the first time since the 2007, the season in which it last captured a conference title.
UH started WAC play with a monumental double-overtime upset of defending league champion and preseason favorite Utah State on Friday in the WAC opener for both teams.
Brittani Lum scored the golden goal in the 105th minute off a
Rachel Domingo corner kick giving UH just its third win in eight all-time meetings against the Aggies.
The Rainbow Wahine followed that match with a dominating 5-0 win over Nevada on Sunday for the team's most decisive league win in four years. It was also the team's first shutout of the year as
Kanani Taaca recorded three saves for a clean sheet. Lum scored the first goal in that match, her team-high fifth of the year—and was awarded the WAC Offensive Player of the Week for her performance over the weekend.
Hawai'i sits atop the WAC standings after the first weekend of WAC action and hope to stay perfect against an Idaho squad that dropped its first two league games this past weekend.
