Shay Sorensen had a team-high seven kills for Utah State with Laurel Bodily posting 16 digs.

UH and USU played each other even to start set one, but the 'Bows gained control midway through with an 8-1 run. A pair of kills by Hartong helped Hawai'i to the comfortable lead. The momentum did not subside, as strong serving and defense by Croson paced UH to the win.

Set two saw UH hold a comfortable lead before the Aggies cut the deficit to one point. Hawai'i led 19-11 after block assists by Chanteal Satele (6 kills) and Adolpho, but the Aggies scored seven straight points to cut the UH lead to 21-20. Satele halted the rally with a kill, and Croson polished off the Aggies with a pair of aces.

In set three, Hawai'i trailed 7-3 before turning the tide and racing away to the sweep. The 'Bows scored 22 of the set's last 26 points for the lopsided win.

There were 6,965 tickets issued for the match, and a turnstile count of 5,505.

Between sets two and three, Natasha Kai, Brooke Wilkins, and the late Patsy Mink were introduced as the 2011 inductees of the UH Sports Circle of Honor.
