Women’s Soccer Hosts Final Home Matches

Game Notes

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team will play host to its final homestand of the season when it faces Fresno State (Oct. 14, 7:00 p.m.) and San Jose State (Oct. 16, 5:00 p.m.) in a pair of key Western Athletic Conference matches.

Sunday will be “Senior Night” as Colleen Burns, Tiffany Ikeda-Simao, Keisha Kanekoa, Kaylee Kihara, Brittani Lum and Alyssa Simbahon will make their final home appearances and be honored after the conclusion of the match.

The Rainbow Wahine (3-10, 2-1 WAC) are coming off a pair of road losses this past weekend. UH lost its first WAC match of the year with a 4-2 setback at Idaho on Oct. 7, then dropped a 3-0 decision to Seattle in a non-conference meeting two days later. Those losses kept UH winless (0-7) on the mainland this year.

Hawai'i looks to return to the win column at home where it has won its last two matches. UH is currently one of three WAC teams—Fresno State and Utah State being the others—with a league-leading six points in the WAC standings. However, five other squads are just one win behind, making UH's performance in their final two home matches crucial in qualifying for next month's WAC Tournament.
