HONOLULU—The University of Hawai`i women's basketball team (6-15, 0-8 WAC) fell to Nevada (14-6, 3-4 WAC), 75-62 on Monday night at the Stan Sheriff Center. Shawna-Lei Kuehu had a team-high 16 points and eight rebounds in the loss in front of a crowd of 1,570.

Three Rainbow Wahine finished the game in double figures in points. Allie Patterson scored 11 off the bench with two rebounds, an assist and a career high four blocked shots, while point guard Keisha Kanekoa added 10 points with a rebound, two steals and a team-high four assists. Kuehu finished the night with an assist and two steals in 28 minutes of action.

Despite having a season-low 12 turnovers and tying Nevada with 42 rebounds a piece, Hawai`i couldn't overcome an early offensive barrage by Nevada highlighted by their 3-point aerial attach. In the first half alone, the Wolf Pack hit 7-of-10 from beyond the arch with Nevada's Tahnee Robinson causing the most havoc, hitting on 5-of-6 treys in the first 20 minutes of action. The 'Bows, on the other hand, could not connect on multiple close range shots, hitting just 5-of-18 inside the paint.

Nevada built as big a lead as 25 points in the second half, but the 'Bows fought hard down the stretch and were able to trim their deficit to 13 points as the final buzzer rang mainly on the help of bench scoring which accounted for 21 of the team's 40 points in the second half. The Rainbow Wahine bench outscored Nevada's subs, 31-23. It was the second highest scoring total for UH's reserves this season.

In the end, Nevada hit 10-of-22 shots from 3-point range for 45.5% and shot 24-of-60 from the floor for a field goal percentage of .400. The Wolf Pack were led by Robinson's 27 points. She was 9-of-16 from the floor with six 3-pointers made.

The loss marked UH's ninth in a row overall and was its eighth straight to start the conference season. It is the longest losing streak for the Rainbow Wahine since losing 11 straight in 1994-95 under former head coach Vince Goo.

Hawai`i continues their three-game homestand against Boise State this Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 6:00 pm at the Stan Sheriff Center.
