Women’s Tennis Takes On USF, BYU This Week

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team is back in action this week when it hosts a trio of dual matches at the UH Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Wahine host a pair of matches against San Francisco (Jan. 26 & 28) before taking on Brigham Young (Jan. 29).

First serve is at 3:00 p.m. for the weekday matches against San Francisco, while the match against the Cougars will start at 11:00 a.m. Admission is free.

UH will be playing its first match in nearly three weeks after opening its spring season with a 6-1 loss to then-No. 7 Duke. Despite the result, UH proved competitive against a national title contender. The Blue Devils featured four nationally ranked singles players—including two players in the Top 25—as well as the No 4 doubles team in the nation. Still, the Rainbow Wahine didn't back down and went toe-to-toe on numerous courts including sophomore Katarina Poljakova's upset of No. 43 Mary Clayton on the No.3 court.

Following its match with BYU, the Rainbow Wahine will play its next four matches on the road, beginning with a date at Cal State Fullerton on Feb. 5.
