PORTLAND, Ore.—The University of Hawai`i women's basketball team (4-3) dropped its first road game of the season at Portland State, 66-77 at the Peter W. Stott Center tonight. Freshman forward
Kamilah Jackson recorded her fourth double-double in a row with a career and game-high 22 points and team-high 10 rebounds.
Jackson, who started her first game tonight as a Rainbow Wahine, proved her mettle, hitting 11-of-14 field-goals and grabbing three offensive and seven defensive boards on the night. Jackson also tallied a career and game-high five steals.
Shawna-Lei Kuehu tied her career-high by scoring 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting tonight. She also got four rebounds with two assists, two blocks and a steal, while
Keisha Kanekoa put up 14 points with a team-high five assists, six rebounds and a steal in 35 minutes of action.
Despite outscoring the Vikings 48-to-20 in the paint; scoring 21-to-9 points off turnovers; and having a 16-to-7 advantage in second chance points, Portland State's bench outscored UH 22-3. But the difference of the game proved to be at the free-throw line with PSU sinking 21-of-22 foul shots, while the 'Bows managed to convert on just 9-of-19 free-throws.
