Warrior Golf Concludes WAC Championship in Ninth

Final Results

HENDERSON, Nevada – The University of Hawai´i men's golf team concluded the 48th annual Western Athletic Conference Championship, Wednesday, at the Rio Secco Golf Club. The Warriors carded rounds of 306, 327, and 312 to finish in ninth place with a 945 total.
 
For the third time this season, freshman #T.J. Kua# led UH, finishing tied for 22nd at 11-over par (75-80-72=227). Kua also led the field in pars, with 38, and was one of only five players to eagle a hole.
 
Other competing Warriors were sophomore Kamden Brakel (72-80-80=232/T29th), freshman Pono Calip (81-80-85=246/41st), senior Cody Pewarchuk (85-87-77=249/42nd), and freshman Jared Sawada (78-89-83=250/43rd).
 
Winning the team title was New Mexico State (282-301-287=870) at six-over par, just one stroke ahead of Fresno State in second place. NMSU's Travis Reid took the individually title at seven-under par (67-73-69=209).
 
This tournament marked the end of the Warrior's 2008-09 season.
