Warrior Golf in 13th After First Day of Cougar Classic

Day 1 Results

PROVO, Utah – The University of Hawai´i men's golf team is in 13th place after the first day of the PING Cougar Classic at the Riverside Country Club. The Warriors played two rounds on Friday, sitting in a tie for 10th after the first round but falling three places after the second round (296-303=599).
 
Leading UH is freshman #T.J. Kua# who is currently tied for 34th at 3-over par (72-75=147). Three strokes back of Kua is sophomore Kamden Brakel who is currently tied for 51st (75-75=150). Also competing for the Warriors are freshman Jared Sawada (72-79=151/T55th), senior Cody Pewarchuk (77-74=151/T55th), and freshman Pono Calip (80-80=160/T73rd).
 
Tournament host Brigham Young leads the team standings at 17-under par (283-276=559). BYU will have a seven-stroke lead over Idaho going into the third round.
 
Matt McArthur of Southern Utah leads individually at 11-under par (67-66=133). McArthur was tied with Idaho's Brad Tensen after the first round, but took a one-stroke lead with a 66 in the second round.
 
The tournament concludes Saturday with the third and final round.
