CARSON, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i conducted its annual Pro Day for draft eligible football players at the Home Depot Center Thursday. More than a dozen former Warriors participated and were put through various tests for scouts and player personnel from the 32 NFL teams.
Associate head coach Rich Miano, who is the team's liaison to the NFL and an 11-year veteran of the league having played for the New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, and Atlanta Falcons, attended as well as head coach Greg McMackin.
Among the participants were Keith AhSoon,
Jameel Dowling,
Solomon Elimimian,
Tim Grasso,
Tyler Graunke,
Jake Ingram,
Dan Kelly,
Fale Laeli,
Adam Leonard,
Ryan Mouton,
Calvin Roberts,
Erik Robinson, and
David Veikune.
The Warriors receiving the most interest were defensive end Veikune, defensive back Mouton, and long snapper Ingram, all of whom have been mentioned as possible draft picks. Both Veikune and Ingram participated in the NFL Combine while Mouton was recently ranked as a Top 10 cornerback by The Sporting News.
Each participant was measured and went through various skills tests including the vertical jump, broad jump, 225-pound bench press, 20-yard dash, 40-yard dash, pro agility, 60-yard shuttle, and L-test.
For the past several years, the Warriors have conducted their Pro Day at the Home Depot Center, which is a closer proximity to the scouts than Honolulu. The NFL Draft is April 25-26 in New York. A UH athlete has been selected in eight of the past nine drafts, including a school-record five picks in 2007. Last year, Heisman Trophy finalist Colt Brennan was drafted in the sixth round by the Washington Redskins.
