UH Track Wraps Up Road Trip At Beach Invitational

Beach Invitational Final Results

NORWALK, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's track and field team concluded its four-day, four-meet road trip by competing in the Beach Invitational Saturday at Cerritos College. The Rainbow Wahine set four personal bests and three seasonal bests at the meet.
 
A pair of Rainbow Wahine posted new PRs in the discus. Freshman TeRina Keenan threw 165-11 (50-.57) to finish third while Careena Onosai heaved 163-10 (49.93m) and took fourth. Chrissy Van Doornum clocked in at 26.68 in the 200-meter for a new personal best and Mariana Monasi checked in at 2:19.94 in the 800-meter run.
 
Freshman Kai Schmidt threw a seasonal best mark of 139-7 (42.55m) to take sixth place in the javelin. Senior Jessica Custance tied for second in the pole vault after clearing 12-1.5 (3.70m) and freshman Jamilee Jimenez placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 18-0.5 (5.50m).
 
On the final day of the Mt. SAC Relays, Emma MacCorquodale threw a seasonal-best 173-7 (52.92m) to finish sixth. Emily Sheppard cleared 5-8.75 (1.75m) in the high jump to place ninth in an elite field that included numerous Olympians.
 
The Rainbow Wahine will take the next week off before competing in the Steve Scott Invitational May 2-3 in Irvine, Calif.
