OKAYAMA, Japan – The University of Hawai´i men's golf team is tied for first place after Round 2 of the Naris Cup, Wednesday, hosted by the Kansei Students Golf Union at the Sakushu Musashi Country Club. On the 6,845 yard, par-72 course, the Warriors carded a 599 two-round total (294-305) to share the tournament's top team spot with Hawai´i-Hilo.
UH and UH-Hilo are the only Hawai´i-based teams competing in the tournament. The other six participating teams are from Japan: Doshisha, Osaka Gakuin, Kinki, Konan, Kwansei Gakuin, and High School Union.
Currently leading the Warriors is Junior
Robert Berton who carded rounds of 74 and 72 for a 146 total at two-over par. Second behind Berton is freshman #T.J. Kua# who shot a 151 two-round total (75-76). Also competing for UH are sophomore
Kamden Brakel (69-85=154), freshman
Jared Sawada (76-78=154), and freshman
Pono Calip (78-79=157).
The tournament concludes Thursday with the third and final round.
