LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i men's tennis team earned its second victory of the 2009 spring season by beating Loyola Marymount, 4-3, Thursday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Center.
The Rainbow Warriors (2-4) earned the doubles point by winning two of the three doubles matches. The duo of freshman Leo Rosenberg and senior Jeff Fitch easily downed Geza Bazula and Johan Berhof, 8-1 at the No. 1 court. The team of junior Andreas Weber and senior Sascha Heinemann dropped Renzo Maggi and Aris Andreasian, 8-4 at the No. 2 court
UH won three of the six singles matches to clinch victory. At the No. 1 court, Weber swept Maggi, 6-2, 6-3. Rosenberg earned a tough victory over Ivan Lopez, 7-5, 7-6 at the No. 2 position and Heinemann crushed Aram Abgaryan, 6-2, 6-0, at the No. 3 position
The Warriors will compete in the prestigious Blue-Gray Classic beginning on March 19. The classic is a six day dual-match tournament featuring 16 high ranked teams. This will mark the first appearance in this tournament for the Warriors.
