RENO, Nev. – The University of Hawai`i women's basketball team ended its season Wednesday afternoon with a 65-50 loss to Fresno State in the quarterfinals of the WAC Tournament at the Lawlor Events Center in Reno, Nev.
The No. 8 seed Rainbow Wahine beat No. 9 seed San Jose State the previous day, but couldn't pull the upset against No. 1 seed Fresno State on Wednesday.
With the loss, UH finishes 8-23 on the season. The victory Tuesday for the Rainbow Wahine was the first WAC Tournament victory in six seasons.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Rainbow Wahine gave the Bulldogs all they can handle, taking an early second half lead, before Fresno State rallied back to take the lead at the 18-minute mark. UH cut the lead to five with under 12 minutes left but couldn't get any closer.
“It was a tough loss. We were hoping to get an upset,” Pat Charity said. “We did a good job in the first half and kept it close. We just couldn't get anything to fall in the second half.”

Megan Tinnin led the way with 15 points, including three 3-pointers and added seven rebounds. Senior
Catherine Cho scored eight points in her final collegiate game and senior
Tara Hittle scored seven off the bench. Hittle also added five rebounds in her final game.
In the first half, the Rainbow Wahine rallied late in the first half to take their first lead of the game with one minute remaining, 32-31. Fresno State hit a shot at the halftime buzzer to take the lead at the break 33-32.
Tinnin led the way offensively with 10 points, including two 3-pointers, and added four rebounds. Cho added six points and Hittle and
Breanna Arbuckle had four points each.
UH went to the basket hard in the half, going to the free throw line 13 times, making 12 to keep the game close. Fresno State went 6-for-15 from 3-point range, while UH went 2-for-6.
