Final Results
FRESNO, Calif. – The University of Hawai´i men's golf team concluded the Fresno State Lexus Classic in 19
th place, Tuesday, at the Belmont Country Club. The Warriors shot their best combined round of the tournament, 306, but were unable to move up in the team rankings and finished with a three-round score of 930 (316-308-306).
UH's top finisher was junior
Robert Berton who shot rounds of 72, 74, and 74 for a total score of 220 (+4). Berton finished in a tie for 19
th place, his second best finish of the 2008-09 season. Also competing for the Warriors were freshman #T.J. Kua# (77-75-76=228/T58th), sophomore
Kamden Brakel (81-80-79=240/95th), freshman
Pono Calip (87-79-77=243/T99th), and freshman
Jared Sawada (86-82-82=250/102nd).
Washington, who was tied for first with UC Davis at the end of two rounds, took the tournament's team title after firing a final round of 281 (299-285-281=865). UC Davis ended in a tie for third with UC Irvine at 876, while Fresno State took second place at 870. Winning the individual title was Ramie Sprinkling of UC Davis at four-under par (68-75-69=212).
Up next, the Warriors will travel overseas to Okayama, Japan to compete in the Naris Cup, March 24-25, hosted by Osaka Gakuin University.
