UH Continues Play At UH-Hilo Invitational

Round 2 Results

KAMUELA, Hawai'i – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team continued play at the UH-Hilo Invitational with Round 2 Thursday at the Mauna Lani's North Course. The Warriors are currently in 17th place with a two-round score of 642 (314-328).
 
Hawai'i struggled throughout the day as each of its five golfers failed to break 80. Freshman #T.J. Kua# shot an 81 and has a two-round score of 157 (76-81), which is currently tied for 69th place. Junior Robert Berton's 80 in Round 2 placed him in a tie with freshman Pono Calip for 83rd at 161. Sophomore Kamden Brakel (78-88) and freshman Jared Sawada (81-85) are tied for 94th at 166.
 
Three UH golfers are competing as individuals – Chase Bingham (168, T-96th), Daniel Soglanich (170, T-98th) and Cody Pewarchuk (179, 100th).
 
Southern California jumped ahead of Washington in the team standings after shooting a 284 in Round 2. Their two-day total of 569 is four strokes better than first round leader Washington (573). Individually, Washington's Richard Lee (68-70) holds a two-stroke lead over Texas Tech's Garrett Merrell and Washington's Nick Taylor.
 
The tournament concludes on Friday with the third and final round.
