HONOLULU – The University of Hawai`i women's basketball team dropped a tough game Friday night against Idaho 63-60, as both teams exchanged leads four times over the final four minutes at the Stan Sheriff Center.
With the game tied 58-58, UH took the lead on a jumper by
Breanna Arbuckle with 2:43 left in the game. Idaho scored the next four points in a wild and hectic 2:25.
The loss drops UH to 6-21 overall and 3-11 in Western Athletic Conference play. Idaho improved to 12-13 overall and 9-5 in conference.
Offensively,
Keisha Kanekoa scored a team-high 16 points and added five assists and six steals. Kanekoa went 7-for-15 from the field in 33 minutes of action.
As a team UH shot 38.3 percent from the field, while Idaho shot 49.0 percent. The Rainbow Wahine committed 19 turnovers to the Vandals' 23
In the first half, the Rainbow Wahine and Vandals went back-and-forth, with the score tied five times. Idaho went on to take a 28-26 lead at the break.
UH forced Idaho into 13 first half turnovers and had five steals, while offensively Arbuckle had eight points and two rebounds.
The Rainbow Wahine conclude the home schedule Sunday, March 1 when they take on Boise State at 5 p.m. Three seniors,
Catherine Cho,
Tara Hittle and
Ebony Jones, will be honored following the game.
