Women’s Basketball Suffers Home Loss Against Louisiana Tech

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai`i women's basketball team ran into a hot shooting Louisiana Tech team on Sunday night, leading to an 89-71 loss at the Stan Sheriff Center.
 
The Lady Techsters shot 60.6 percent in the first half, and shot 54.1 for the game, leading to the victory. The Rainbow Wahine shot 46.0 for the game.
 
With the loss UH falls to 6-20 overall and 3-10 in Western Athletic Conference play. Louisiana Tech moved into a second place tie with a 9-4 conference record and a 16-11 overall mark.
 
Offensively the Rainbow Wahine were led by Megan Tinnin, who scored 17 points on 7-of-15 shooting in 30 minutes of action.
 
Breanna Arbuckle came off the bench to score 10 points and grab five rebounds. Jennifer Hamilton added nine points and Catherine Cho had eight points.
 
In the first half, the Lady Techsters shot 60.6 percent from the field and jumped out to a 49-33 halftime lead.
 
The Rainbow Wahine shot 45.2 percent themselves and were led by Arbuckle, who scored nine points in five minutes off the bench. Tinnin had seven first half points and Hamilton added five points off the bench.
 
The Rainbow Wahine conclude their home schedule next weekend with two home games. UH faces Idaho on Friday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. and Boise State on Sunday, March 1 at 5 p.m.
