Final Results
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – In its final indoor competition before the Western Athletic Conference Championships in two weeks, the University of Hawai'i women's track and field team put a strong showing at the Northern Arizona Classic Saturday at the J L Walkup Skydome.
The team set eight seasonal best marks and six personal bests, while winning two events.
Multi-event specialist
Annett Wichmann competed in three events – winning the shot put with a throw of 45-11.25 (14.00m), placing third in the long jump at 17-8.75 (5.40m), and taking fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.04).
The Rainbow Wahine swept the top three spots in the high jump led by multi-sport athlete
Amber Kaufman. A starting middle blocker on the nationally ranked women's volleyball team, Kaufman set an NCAA provisional mark and new UH indoor mark after clearing 5-11.5 (1.82m). Freshman
Sarah Saddleton finished second with a new personal best mark of 5-9.75 (1.77m) while senior
Emily Sheppard took third at 5-7.75 (1.72m).
In the pole vault competition, four UH athletes competed led by senior
Jessica Custance, who placed third at 12-6 (3.81m).
Freshman
Jamilee Jimenez posted two personal bests in the long jump and 200-meter events. In the long jump, the Lihue, Kaua'i native placed fourth after a leap of 17-7 (5.36m) and also took fourth in the 200-meters with a time of 26.46.
The Rainbow Wahine return to host the Terry Albritton Invitational, Feb. 21, at the Clarence T.C. Ching Field before the WAC Championships, 26-28, in Nampa, Idaho. UH placed second at last year's WAC Championship, missing the title by one point.
