Game Notes
HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Warrior football team will host Utah State, Saturday, Nov. 7, in its annual Homecoming Game. Kickoff for the Western Athletic Conference match-up is 5:05 p.m. at Aloha Stadium.
The Warriors (2-6, 0-5 WAC) are looking to snap its six-game losing streak, which began Sept. 19 at UNLV. During that span, UH has dropped all five WAC games, including last week's 31-21 loss at Nevada. In that game, the Warriors jumped out to a 14-0 lead before the Wolf Pack scored 28 unanswered and needed a late field goal to hold on to the victory.
Quarterback
Bryant Moniz returned to action and completed 29-of-49 for 374 yards and three touchdowns. Three UH receivers had 90 yards or more receiving including
Jovonte Taylor's six receptions for 109 yards and two scores. On offense, the Warriors amassed 492 yards of total offense, which included 118 yards on the ground. However, the Warriors could not stop the Wolf Pack's vaunted run attack which generated 312 yards, including 100-yard rushers Colin Kaepernick and Vai Taua.
Utah State is led 27-17 at the half in its game at Fresno State last week but were shut-out in the second half as the Bulldogs rallied for a 31-27 victory. Aggie quarterback Diondre Borel threw for 240 yards and a touchdown and ran for 105 yards and another score. Robert Turbin added 138 yards rushing and a TD.
USU leads the all-time series 5-4, however, the Warriors won three of the four meetings in WAC play. The Aggies snapped a three-game UH win streak in the series last year with a 30-14 victory in Logan, Utah.
UH's six-game skid is the longest since a 19-game streak that spanned the 1997-99 seasons.
