SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -The University of Hawai'i sailing team placed fourth overall at the PCCSC Fall Dinghy Championship hosted with a final score of 216. Stanford and host UC Santa Barbara ended the regatta deadlocked with 112 points, with the Gauchos winning the tiebreaker to claim the championship.
A total of 22 schools participated in the regatta and 11 races were run in each of three divisions. UH finished within the top six in each division they competed in. In the B division, senior
Zachary Hester and junior
Darla Baldwin earned third place with a score of 53. In the C division, senior
Ryan Wild and junior
Craig Schifferns helped sail the team a to fifth place finish with a score of 76, while junior
William Petersen and sophomore
Tahnee Allman led UH to a sixth-place finish in the A division with a total score of 87.
UH will kick off their 2010 spring season at home hosting the PJ Wenner Rainbow Invite from Jan. 16-17 in at Keehi Lagoon.
