Warriors Look To Begin New Streak Versus NMSU

Game Notes

HONOLULU – After snapping a six-game losing streak last week, the University of Hawai'i Warrior football team will go for its second straight win when it hosts New Mexico State in a Western Athletic Conference match-up, Saturday, Nov. 14 at Aloha Stadium. Kickoff is 5:05 p.m.

The Warriors (3-6, 1-5 WAC) are coming off a 49-36 victory over Utah State on Saturday which ended the program's longest losing streak since 1998. In the win, UH amassed nearly 700 yards of total offense, including 360 on the ground, the most yards rushing in a game in 14 years. Running backs Leon Wright-Jackson (167) and Alex Green (110), became the first UH tandem to eclipse 100-yards since 1995. For his efforts, Wright-Jackson was named the WAC's offensive player of the week.

Hawai'i quarterback Bryant Moniz passed for 337 yards and a career-high four touchdowns, including a pair to receiver Greg Salas, who hauled in 10 receptions for 187 yards. Moniz surpassed the 300-yard mark for the third time in the last four games, while Salas tied his career-high in receptions and touchdowns.

The Aggies (3-6, 1-3) had a bye week last week and haven't played since getting shut-out 45-0 by Ohio State on Oct. 31. NMSU has dropped three straight and have been out-scored 124-10 during that span.

The Warriors lead the series with NMSU, 5-0, including winning all four games in conference play. UH has scored at least 42 points in each of the WAC contests and averaged 47.5 points per game.

Last season, the Warriors rolled over the Aggies, 49-30, in Las Cruces, N.M. UH rallied from a 14-7 deficit by scoring 21 unanswered points and built a 35-17 halftime lead.
