Bourne's Hat Trick Gives UH Soccer 3-2 Win At Idaho In Season Finale

Box Score

MOSCOW, Idaho – Britta Bourne posted a hat trick to lead the University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine soccer team (7-11-1, 3-5-0 WAC) to a 3-2 win over the Idaho Vandals (9-9-3, 2-6-0) in their season-finale at Guy Wicks Field Sunday.

Bourne became just the fifth player in UH history to record a hat trick, finishing the season with 10 goals and 23 points. Ambree Ako had two assists in the match, moving her to second all-time on the UH career list with 21. Fellow senior Kelsie Look also had an assist for the Rainbow Wahine.

Things looked bleak early on for Hawai'i. Idaho scored goals in the 15th and 17th minutes to take a 2-0 lead at the half.

But things started to turn for the Rainbow Wahine in the second half. Bourne scored her first goal in the 52nd minute, as Ako passed her the ball up the middle before she beat the goalkeeper.

UH then tied the score in the 65th minute as Ako set up Bourne for a long shot that beat the keeper through her legs. In the 85th minute, Bourne got the game-winner, heading in a cross by Look to give Hawai'i the 3-2 victory.

The win concludes the season for the Rainbow Wahine also ending the careers of eight UH seniors. Along with Bourne, Ako and Look, the careers of Larily Alota, Vanessa Bailey, Shauna Musser, Kristyn Shapka and Julia Siljestrom also came to a close.
