TULSA, Okla. – The D'Novo/ITA All-American Tennis Championships singles main draw got underway Thursday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center with University of Hawai'i men's tennis player

Inclement weather forced the match indoors, where Hunt defeated Lajola, 6-0, 6-3. Hunt is No. 37 in the ITA preseason men's singles ranking, while Lajola is No. 43. Despite the loss, Lajola is not totally eliminated from the championships. The junior will compete in the 32-player consolation draw beginning on Friday. Lajola will take on Texas' Dmitar Kustrovsky, the nation's sixth-ranked player, at 1:00 p.m. CT (8:00 a.m. HT).
Also in the consolation draw is the nation's top-ranked player, Oklahoma State's Oleksandr Nedovyesov, who was an upset victim in the first-round of the main draw.
