Weber, Rosenberg Advance in D'Novo/ITA All-American Tennis Championships

TULSA, Okla. – Two of the remaining three members of the UH men's tennis team advanced to the second round of the qualifying draw today at the D'Novo/ITA All-American Tennis Championships.

UH senior Andreas Weber, who began tournament play today, defeated South Florida's Lucas Jovita, the top-seeded player entering the qualifiers. Weber defeated Jovita, ranked No. 48 in the preseason ITA singles rankings, in two sets 7-6 (3), 6-3. The junior, ranked preseason at No. 119, will resume play in the second round against Dino Bilankov from Minnesota on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, UH sophomore Leo Rosenberg, who advanced to the qualifying rounds after a pair of wins in prequalifying rounds, defeated Alistair Barnes from host Tulsa, 6-2, 7-6 (2). Rosenberg advanced to the second round where he'll face Sebastien Vidal from William and Mary on Tuesday. Both Rosenberg and Weber need just two more wins to enter the main draw. UH junior Dennis Lajola, the third remaining member of the UH squad and the No. 43 ranked player in the country, is automatically entered into the main draw, which begins Thursday.

Doubles competition will also begin tomorrow with six Rainbow Warriors in action.
