MALIBU, Calif. – The Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southwest Regional Tennis Championships continued today with the remaining three Rainbow Warriors all competing in the singles competition.
The remaining Warriors included UH senior Andreas Weber, junior Dennis Lajola, and sophomore Philipp Eberhard. Weber lost his match to Sebastien Fanselow from host Pepperdine in a tough three sets 6-4, 6-7, 6-1. Eberhard was defeated by Jaak Poldma from USC ranked No. 49 by the ITA rankings in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.
Lajola was the only winner of the day for the Rainbow Warriors. He defeated Daniel Gliner from USC in a great match 6-7, 7-5, 6-3 to advance to the singles round of 16 against Alex Llompart from Pepperdine who is ranked No.71 by the ITA preseason rankings. Lajola lost his match to Llompart which was also played to today in three sets 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Up next for the Rainbow Warriors is a set of matches against Brigham Young University, Nov. 11-13, at the University of Hawaii Tennis Complex.
