Rainbow Sailors Capture Stoney Burke Intersectional

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of Hawai`i coed sailing team finished first at the Stoney Burke Intersectional held, Oct. 10-11. The Rainbows used a final day surge to top 22 other teams and win its first mainland regatta in two years.
 
UH last regatta win was in 2007 when it captured the PCCSC Sloop Championships. The Rainbows last won the Stoney Burke in 2005. Sailing for the Rainbows were William Petersen, Tahnee Allman, Zachary Hester, Darla Baldwin and Craig Schifferns.
 
The Rainbows entered the second day of action in third place, but leaped past UC Santa Baraba and USC to finish first with 105 points, 17 points ahead of second-place Cal Maritime and 19 points ahead of USC. Petersen and Allman finished second in the A division with 49 points, while Hester, Baldwin and Schifferns placed third in the B division with 56 points.
 
Next up for the coed team is the PCCSC Fall Championships, Nov. 11-12, in Santa Barbara, Calif.
