HONOLULU – The University of Hawai`i women's basketball team lost to Colorado 67-55 in the final game of the Jack in the Box Rainbow Wahine Classic Sunday afternoon at the Stan Sheriff Center.
The Rainbow Wahine played a solid overall game, at one point tying the game 36-36 with 18 minutes remaining in the game, but the Buffaloes pulled away down the stretch.
With the victory Colorado went 2-0 in the classic and was named the champion. Pepperdine finished 1-1, while UH finished 0-2.
In Sunday's game, the Rainbow Wahine were led by two players who recorded career-highs in the game. Senior
Catherine Cho scored a career-high 15 points, while freshman
Breanna Arbuckle scored a career-high 12 points.
Cho scored 15 points on 4-of-9 shooting, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range. Cho also added four assists in 37 minutes of action. Cho was also honored after the game, being named to the all-tournament team.
Arbuckle played a career-high 28 minutes and went 4-for-10 from the field and added three rebounds.
Freshman
Briauna Linton also scored a career-high nine points off the bench for UH and added a career-high seven rebounds.
Overall UH shot 30.9 percent from the field, while Colorado shot 46.2 percent from the field. The Rainbow Wahine outrebounded the Buffaloes, including 17 offensive rebounds.
UH ends non-conference play with a 3-10 record and begins Western Athletic Conference play Thursday, Jan. 8. The Rainbow Wahine open conference at Fresno State, followed by at San Jose State Saturday, Jan. 10 and at Boise State Monday, Jan. 12.
