FULLERTON, Calif. – The University of Hawai`i women's soccer team scored two goals in the final four minutes of the game, beating Cal State Fullerton 3-2 Tuesday night in Fullerton, Calif. in its final game of a three-game road trip.
 
 
The Rainbow Wahine finish a tough three-game road trip with a 1-1-1 record and finish non-conference play 4-4-3 overall. UH will begin WAC play Oct. 10 at Nevada. Cal State Fullerton fell to 5-5-1 with the loss.
 
Trailing 2-1, UH received a little luck when Cal State Fullerton scored an own goal at the 86:09 mark. Instead of heading to another overtime game, the Rainbow Wahine put the game away at the 88:45 mark.
 
Sophomore defender 
Nicole Mikula took a free kick from 20 yards out and scored the game-winner. It was Mikula's second goal of the season and her first career game-winning goal.
 
UH got on the scoreboard early Tuesday night when sophomore 
Mari Punzal scored her second goal of the season. Punzal took a short pass from 
Taryn Fukuroku and scored from the top of the box. Punzal had an excellent road trip for the Rainbow Wahine. She scored her first goal of the season against Portland State and added an assist against Washington.
 
Cal State Fullerton answered with two goals late in the first half to take a 2-1 lead going into the break. The score remained the same until the 86:09 mark.
 
Senior 
Kori Lu had four saves in goal as Cal State Fullerton took 19 shots; six on goal, while UH took nine shots with four on goal.
 
The Rainbow Wahine return to the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium Saturday night when they host their annual alumnae match at 7 p.m. UH begins WAC action the following week, beginning Oct. 10 at Nevada.
