Warriors Travel To Fresno For Showdown With No. 22 Bulldogs

Game Notes

Aaron Bain runs with the ball against San Jose St.

The University of Hawai'i Warrior football team looks to snap its current two-game losing streak this Saturday, in a Western Athletic Conference match-up against No. 22/21 Fresno State. Kickoff is 7:00 p.m. PT (4:00 p.m. HT) at Bulldog Stadium.

The Warriors (1-3, 0-1 WAC) dropped their WAC opener last Saturday in a 20-17 loss to San Jose State. UH led 17-7 at halftime but were shutout in the second half due to five turnovers and a missed field goal attempt. In all, UH committed six turnovers - four interceptions and two fumbles - against the Spartans.

Fresno State (3-1, 0-0) opens WAC play after posting non-conference wins at Rutgers, Toledo, and UCLA along with a home loss to Wisconsin. The Bulldogs are coming off a 36-31 win at UCLA last Saturday, becoming the first non-BCS conference team in 25 years to beat the Bruins at the Rose Bowl.

The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 20-19-1, however the Warriors have won the last two meetings. In 2006, UH defeated the Bulldogs in Fresno, 68-37. Colt Brennan completed 32-of-39 passes for 409 yards and five touchdowns. Last season in Honolulu, the Warriors led 31-7 before the Bulldogs mounted a comeback, knocking Brennan out of the game in the third quarter and drawing to within seven with 1:31 left in the game.

The Warriors are 0-2 on the road this season while the Bulldogs lost their only home game. Since the Bulldogs joined the WAC in 1992, the Warriors lead the series 9-7 with two wins at Bulldog Stadium in 2002 and 2006.
