Rainbow Sailors Have Strong Showing At Season-Opening Regatta

 SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Four University of Hawai'i Rainbow sailors participated in the PCCSC Men's Singlehanded Championships, Sept. 27-28. William Petersen was the top UH finisher, placing fifth with a total of 190 points and was part a trio of Rainbow sailors who finished in the top seven.
 
Also participating for UH alongside Petersen were Peter Wenner (6th place, 204 points), Andrew Meade (7th place, 215 points) and Ryan Wild (11th place, 249 points).
 
A total of 25 sailors from 10 schools participated in the regatta hosted by UC San Diego and UC Irvine at the Mission Bay Yacht Club. Twenty five races were completed over the course of two days with Stanford sailor TJ Tullo (152 points) and Cal Maritime's Paige Johnston (168) taking the top two spots. The pair automatically qualified for the Men's Singlehanded Nationals to be held in Ithaca, New York in November.
 
The Rainbows next participate in the Stoney Burke Intersectional in San Francisco, Oct. 11-12.
