STOCKTON, Calif. – The University of Hawai`i women's soccer team opened the Pacific Fall Tournament with a 2-1 loss against host Pacific Friday night at Stagg Stadium in Stockton, Calif.
The Rainbow Wahine scored first in the game, but allowed two goals in a seven-minute span, leading to the loss. UH drops to 1-3-1 on the season, while Pacific improves to 3-3-0.
After playing to a scoreless tie in the first half, the Rainbow Wahine scored seven minutes into the second half when
Ambree Ako netted her fourth goal of the season. Ako took a pass from
Taryn Fukuroku and beat Pacific goalkeeper Amanda McNab, giving UH the lead.
The Tigers bounced back in the 60th minute, scoring on a penalty kick. Pacific scored the game-winning goal in the 67th minute.
Overall Pacific recorded 16 shots with eight on goal, while UH took five shots with two on goal. Ako's goal was her fourth of the season and Fukuroku's assist was her third. Senior goalkeeper
Kori Lu played the full 90 minutes in net, recording six saves.
UH returns to action at 10 a.m. (7 a.m. HT) Sunday, Sept. 14, when it faces San Francisco in the final game of the Pacific Fall Tournament.
