GAME NOTES
HONOLULU – The University of Hawai`i women's soccer team opens the 2008 season on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at 7 p.m. The Rainbow Wahine face two tough opponents to start, beginning Wednesday when Long Beach State meets UH at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
Following the season opener against Long Beach State, UH will then host Denver on Monday, Sept. 1, at 4 p.m. Denver won the Sun Belt Conference last season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Long Beach State won the Big West Conference regular season, but missed narrowly missed on making it to the NCAA Tournament. Both teams return a large core of the squad this season, which should make for two tough games right from the start.
The season opener Wednesday also marks the first tournament game of the non-conference season for the Rainbow Wahine. The OHANA Hotels & Resorts No Ka Oi features Wednesday's game, Saturday's game with Long Beach State and Denver facing each other at 5 p.m., and Monday's game. All games are at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
