Rainbow Wahine Tennis Wins Crucial WAC Match At Idaho

MOSCOW, Idaho - The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team captured its second straight victory after a convincing 5-2 win over Idaho in a Western Athletic Conference match-up Wednesday. The win was important for the Rainbow Wahine in determining their seeding for next week's WAC Championships.

UH (4-16) has won four of its last six matches over the past two weeks since starting the season 0-12.

The Rainbow Wahine jumped out to a 1-0 lead over the Vandals after winning two of the three doubles contests. The teams of Sophie Kobuch and Chloe Bihag and Natasha Zorec and Jennifer Goldman were each victorious.

In singles play, Kobuch dominated her match against Silvia Irimescu, 6-3, 6-1 at court one. Moments later, Bihag and Goldman won their matches against Alexandra Ulesanu and Natalie Kirch at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively. Zorec clinched UH's victory with a come-from-behind 1-6, 6-0, 6-3 victory over Barbara Maciocha at the No. 2 position.

The Rainbow Wahine conclude the regular season with a double-header on Sunday against Division II Hawai'i Pacific at 10:00 a.m. and Chaminade at 4:00 p.m.
