No. 19 Notre Dame Upends Rainbow Wahine Tennis

HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team fell to tennis powerhouse and No. 19 Notre Dame, 7-0, Friday, at the UH Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Wahine fall to 0-9 on the year, seven of those losses coming against ranked opponents.

The Fighting Irish (8-7) earned the doubles point by winning all three matches. The duo of sophomore Sophie Kobuch and senior Chloe Bihag played well against the No. 1 ranked doubles team of Kelcy Thefft and Brook Buck but lost, 8-3, at the No. 1 court.

In singles play, the Rainbow Wahine lost all six matches. Kobuch, ranked No. 81 in the latest ITA singles rankings, lost a tough battle to No. 39 Tefft in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 1 position. Freshman Natasha Zorec dropped two close sets to Colleen Rielley, 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 4 position.

The Rainbow Wahine will continue their homestand by hosting tennis powerhouse and No. 8 Duke, on Thursday, March 13. First serve is set at 4:00 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
