HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team lost a 6-1 decision to Loyola Marymount, Tuesday, at the UH Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Wahine fall to 0-7 on the year, five of those losses coming against ranked opponents.
The Lions (4-8) won the doubles point by winning two of the three doubles match. However, the duo of senior Chloe Bihag and freshman Jennifer Goldman won a thrilling, close match at the No. 2 court against the team of Jasmin Heckel and Caroline Nothnagel, 9-8(7). The duo of sophomore Sophie Kobuch and senior Julia Sandborn lost a tight 9-8 (8) decision at the No. 1 position to Pavla Mesterova and Tamara Tanner.
In singles play, LMU won five of the six matches. UH's lone victory came at the No. 4 court. Freshman Natasha Zorec defeated Heckel in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. Bihag lost a tough three set match to Tina Razloznik, 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 and Goldman lost a two hour 6-4, 7-5 marathon to Audrey Bulkley at the No. 6 position.
The Rainbow Wahine will continue their homestand by hosting No. 27 Pepperdine, Wednesday, March 5. First serve is set at 4:00 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
