SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team lost its second straight match on the road, losing to No. 50 San Diego State, 6-1, Saturday, at the Aztec Tennis Center. The Rainbow Wahine dropped to 0-5 on the 2008 season.

The Aztecs (5-4) won the doubles point by two of the three doubles match. The duo of sophomore Sophie Kobuch and senior Chloe Bihag blew past the team of Kathryn Kitts and Sisse Nielsen at the No. 1 court, 8-1. Kobuch and Bihag have won four of their last five doubles matches.

In singles play, the Rainbow Wahine won one of the six singles matches. Kobuch won again at the No. 1 position, dropping Holly Bagshaw in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.

Kobuch was recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association with a No. 67 singles ranking, in the latest rankings released Feb. 20. The Tournefeuille, France native, sports a 7-7 overall record, including a 4-1 mark in dual matches at the No. 1 position. The sophomore has won six of her last eight singles matches.

Freshman Natasha Zorec was outlasted by Milana Yusypov in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, at the No. 4 court. Freshman Jennifer Goldman lost a heartbreaking match in the third set super tie-breaker to Sisse Nielsen, 6-7, 6-1, 1-0 (7) at the No. 5 position.

The Rainbow Wahine will conclude their three-match road trip tomorrow, against UC San Diego, 10:30 a.m. at the Northview Tennis Courts.
