HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team leaves the islands for the first time this season, traveling to Tempe, Ariz. to participate in the Arizona State Tournament, beginning Saturday, Dec. 6.

 

The Rainbow Wahine played its opening weekend games in Hilo, but are making their first trip to the mainland. UH will face Northern Arizona in the first game of the tournament Saturday at 4:30 p.m. (1:30 p.m. HT).

 

UH enters the tournament with a 1-6 record, coming off a 77-70 victory over Utah Valley on Tuesday night. Northern Arizona comes into the tournament with an identical 1-6 record.

 

The tournament also features No. 25 Arizona State and UC Irvine. Arizona State and UC Irvine will meet in the first game of the tournament Saturday. The winners of each games will face each other on Sunday and the losers will play each other.

 

UH leads the series with Northern Arizona 7-0. UH is 1-0 on a neutral court against the Lumberjacks. UH is 20-7 all-time versus UC Irvine and UH is 0-2 all-time versus Arizona State.
