WAIPAHU, O`ahu
– University of Hawai'i senior Sascha Heinemann and junior Andreas Weber advanced in today's qualifying round of the USTA Honolulu Futures, at the Patsy T. Mink Central Oahu Regional Park Tennis Complex.
No. 4 seed, Weber of Huenfeld, Germany ousted Mikael Maatta, a former Hawaii Pacific University player from Sweden, 5-7, 6-2, 6-0 to advance. No. 6 seed, Heinemann of Eschwege, Germany defeated Wild Card semifinalist Sydney Jim of Sugar Land, Texas 6-1, 6-3.
Heinemann and Weber advance to the qualifying finals and are one win away from qualifying into the main singles draw. Eight qualifiers will advance to the 32-player main draw, beginning on Tuesday, Nov. 11. Sophomore
Dennis Lajola has already earned a qualifying spot in the main draw.

Chad Rubin all lost in the first round. The Honolulu Futures, a USTA Pro Circuit event, is the largest tennis event on Oahu, Hawaii and attracts many up-and-coming professional players from around the world.
Eight of the nine Rainbow Warriors are represented in the USTA's Pro Circuit singles and doubles tournament. The pro circuit tournament continues throughout the week.
